Greetings! I’m Jonathan and my life has been a fascinating journey that has taken me across continents, weaving a tapestry of experiences. Born in the picturesque landscapes of the United Kingdom, my story truly begins when my parents decided to embark on an adventure that led us to Africa, where I spent my formative years in Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe.

The diverse cultural landscape of that country laid the foundation for my appreciation of different customs and traditions. It was here that my curiosity about the world beyond borders began to flourish and motivated me to leave home at the age of 19 and explore parts of the world. Three years later I returned, spent two years in the military before pursuing higher education in Scotland, where I delved into the realms of knowledge that would later shape my professional path.

My journey in the hospitality industry commenced after university, and little did I know that it would be the key to unlocking a series of global experiences. My career took me to various corners of the world, allowing me to live and work in countries that have each left an indelible mark on my personal and professional identity.

From the bustling energy of the United Kingdom to the vibrant spirit of Zimbabwe, the serene landscapes of Sweden, the dynamic pulse of the People’s Republic of China, the sun-kissed expanses of Australia, and the cultural melting pot of Malaysia, and there were more: Thailand, Indonesia, India, Singapore, New Zealand, Fiji — each destination contributed to the rich mosaic of my life. These experiences not only honed my life skills but also provided me with a deep understanding of the nuances that make each place unique.

In 1988, I married a girl from Montana who was working in China. Fast forward to 1998 and we moved to Seattle, Washington in the US with two very young kids in tow. Here there was a career change into project management working for a company in the Human Capital Management space which essentially means providing systems and services that take employees through the life cycle from hire to retire. As a member of the globally recognized Project Management Institute, this instilled and reinforced my code of ethics which I carry forward into any future venture.

So here I am in my 7th decade approaching retirement. I know some of you are saying, whoa, should have retired years ago, but maybe I am one of those that don’t want to and maybe for some retirement might be financially out of reach.
